Wine, for the win

The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines. Culinary trained chefs plus partnership with Culinard (Culinary program of Virginia College). The Wine Loft also supports the local art scene by providing platform space for live music and has a partnership with Spirited Art (painting parties) next door.

WINES & VINES: Virginia Wine Week highlights state’s offerings

The Wine Loft, that chic hot spot in Short Pump, has had a penchant for serving Virginia wines since it opened 15 months ago.

Eleven state wines are normally usually available by the glass. But these are not normal times, at least not through March 27.

This is Love by the Glass, Virginia Wine Week. More than 50 restaurants, wine shops, hotels, grocers and even ABC stores will be featuring Virginia wines at special prices or in special quantities in what has become an annual celebration of the burgeoning state wine industry.
